This is an album called Burn Out Loud.

It’s an album about a failed quest for certainty— or—maybe— the ultimate acceptance and embrace, indeed the celebration, of ambiguity.

language, the human language, it ain’t easy to learn to love procrastination, procrastination, that makes nothing it isn’t something you can rush
your education, your education is everything that you find out for yourself don’t be frightened, i see you’re frightened,  but you will find it soon enough— on highest shelf
you are not your enemy this is not an elegy you will fill the vacancy you’ll just have to wait and see how to spell your name
imagination, imagination, imagination is the one thing no one can crush yes, they’re trying, they’re always trying,  they’re gonna keep trying, but please believe me your power is much too much
remember all your destinies practice your telepathy with the office of your agency from taller windows, you will see how to spell your name you can spell your name

Tune Spinner 03:12
there once was a man from the mouth of the moon he was a tune spinner his work, picks, fingertips, all so very hard the tune spinner
and all the men can’t bear to watch as all the ladies turn to lakes, don’t dip-- unless you’re an olympic swimmer or the tune spinner
proposing a toast to the corners and the walls hey hey the tune spinner i heard it in a dream, “everything is improv when you’re a tune spinner”
underlines hold the key but all the doors have been unlocked, so reach out (reach out!)—and grab ahold of the nearest glimmer and be a tune spinner
you’re a tune spinner, let’s hear a tune hey hey tune spinner, how about a tune if you’re a truth spinner, let’s hear the truth let’s hear it

up before the sun, run the daily race just for a spot fall down the concrete stairs, pay my fare, i’m prepared to rot
slave to your routine go through life unseen another child of the park & ride
city magnets pull me in,  close my eyes and i’m above the clouds there’s that businessman talking on his phone so fucking loud
preaching to the choir someday we’ll conspire meet me down at the park & ride
up before the sun, run the daily race just for a spot
4.
you look at me with speedtrap eyes i’m pickin up a radar smile i don’t know how, but you know why you threaten me with robot lies i asked you once, you told me twice “you are alive, so hang on tight” to speedtrap eyes
i notice things in hindsight an orange cat in the headlights i’ll pick you up before you die this time
i’ll look into your speedtrap eyes no matter what i hope to find i’ll search for pigs, i’ll read the signs i’ll read the signs

she can be stifled, and she can be stalled but she always hears you when you call a dreamer, a driver, a teacher by day sometimes the mornin’ gets in her way
oh, but that’s not all she wrote we get to live forever now there is a pen that sometimes hits the paper some call it god but to each its own creator where it comes from, no one knows oh, that’s not all she wrote
sometimes it seems she ain’t comin back and everything worthy is in the past never another winner like him she knows very well whose shoes she’s in
oh, but that’s not all she wrote we got to live together now there was a man who looked up to the woman who looked up to the heavens, who looked down at the dead now where they’ve gone to, no one knows oh, but that’s not all she wrote
6.
oh, just a wandering star on a lonely residential street oh, wouldn’t it be smart to start a colony?
the rings around your eyes say you tried supporting life,  but possibly, it just ain’t meant to be
oh, i was only a child, pretending to inhale oh, i called your name, mistaken for a vapor trail
dear precious galaxy, how can i make you see  i come in peace?  i don’t mean no hostility i’m a remedy for any leftover lethargy
if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to them
randomly saturn appears in the sky a lightyear, a lantern, a blink of an eye randomly saturn, directing your sight no logical pattern, just a ship in the night
i’m due for supernova, she’s gone to screw another  source of heat, she gotta have all the energy
oh, do i drive a fancy car in all your stellar fantasies? oh, we’ve come so far for opposing gravities
headfirst into the void, when you hurl an asteroid and rescue me from an easy eternity
randomly saturn appears in the sky a lightyear, a lantern, a blink of an eye randomly saturn, directing your sight no logical pattern, just a ship in the night randomly saturn was built in a day the maker is nameless, they like it that way
7.
i chose to grow old i chose to do what i was told i can’t be alone but i can be restless i choose to be cold i have no proof of blinding light living underneath a cloud the sun is gonna burn out loud
could this be the thing you warned me about? am i too late to save you? too late to save me? i thought i knew what i was talkin about i was foolin myself all along could this be the thing you warned me about?
you were the one i was not the perfect son now what have i done? what are you thinking about? there’s no way to know i can’t see through the blinding dark across the street, there is a park i’m not allowed to go out loud
8.
she would be a damn good lawyer,  if she gave a damn for the law he would be a damn good soldier,  if you could show him what he saw lesser of two evils season,  the time has come for you to choose welcome back to waking moments,  play the game and always lose
this time, i feel it, do you feel it too? seems all tomorrow’s riots are coming true today
who knows who has who surrounded,  there’s no other way to look hazy nights revising idols,  rewriting the holy books broken glass and stolen heirlooms,  sirens are the new theme song something even i can dance to,  knowing that you can’t be wrong
this  time, you sing lead, and i’ll sing along all tomorrow’s riots, millions strong
9.
what am i gonna do, now that i know all those things about you? what am i supposed to say, when people ask how i’ve been without you?
that i’ve been fine? but i’ve been hurt i’m in transition i wanna subvert i want to listen for the birds swallowing you, swallowing you
what do we tell the kids about the way things were when we were young? how can we tell the kids where to go or who to be when we are gone?
or about the trash and propaganda and being cold and the loss of china and where to search for what we’re told follows the truth, follows the truth, follows
where did you go? why can’t i see? what do you want? who do i heed?
10.
So Magic 07:33
the lonely nights i floated on  a river bed of rusty nails conserving breath and biding time a narcissist that you insisted  on assisting from both sides, i’m, powerful, i’m powerless
extend a hand for another man who’s lost his faith in the ground beneath him, oh
 i don’t feel, i don’t feel so i don’t feel so magic i don’t feel so magic anymore
the winter wasted tending fires  that went out long ago, she knows the summer spent on cheap denial and cheaper wine we drank alone  to try to put some edge back on now she speaks in monotone
it ain’t so bad, you never cared for music anyway it’s alright, i don’t either
what about the quality you confessed that i possessed? how much wronger could you be? i’m no different from the rest and i swear that from now on i am your marionette i’ve been living here so long am i a millionaire yet?
